Anne Arundel Women Giving Together (AAWGT) funds programs/projects that seek to improve the quality of life for women and families located in Anne Arundel County. We accept applications only from federally recognized nonprofits that are in compliance with Maryland state laws.
Our Grant Process Begins Earlier This Year
The Call for Applications was released on November 2, 2020 and our online application is also now available.
Our Zoom Grant Applicant Workshop was held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in two sessions. Click HERE to download the slide presentation which combines both sessions.
Grant applications are due January 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm; this is a firm deadline.
Thereafter, AAWGT members evaluate the applications in a careful process with successful proposals being placed on a ballot for membership voting in mid-May. Applicants eliminated at earlier points or after voting are promptly notified.
AAWGT will provide a debrief conference call to any applicant not on the final ballot after grant awards have been announced in late May. Debriefings must be requested by email to email@example.com no later than May 31. Please include a phone number in your email.
For 2021, we are interested in funding the following grants:
Regular Grant: $5,000 - $20,000. Proposals that seek to improve the quality of life for women and families in Anne Arundel County.
Fundamental Needs Grant: $5,000 - $10,000. We encourage applications from Anne Arundel County-based nonprofits that have not been previously funded by AAWGT and whose IRS Gross Receipts for the most-recently completed fiscal year do not exceed $100,000. The proposal should address the critical needs of women and families in Anne Arundel County such as food insecurity, parenting support, or the needs of children from birth to five years. Grant proposals not successful in this category will also be considered for funding under the Regular Grant program (in the same amount). We hope to award a total of $10,000 in this grant category to one or more deserving organizations.
Racial Equity Grant: $5,000 - $20,000. New this year, this grant seeks to fund initiatives that could prevent the hardships that disproportionately affect women and families of color, such as childhood hunger, higher mortality rates, early childhood education disparities, higher unemployment, homelessness and poor mental health. Our Regular Grant program has always addressed the consequences of these problems. With this grant we hope to fund initiatives designed to impact the underlying causes of these hardships rather than correcting them after they occur. In addition to programs/projects, under this grant we will also consider funding initiatives such as research, professional development, consultants, and focus groups. We hope to award a total of $20,000 in this grant category to one or more deserving organizations.
Yes, we fund operating expenses!
Our Call for Applications highlights the programs/projects we are interested in funding in the coming grant cycle. A program/project will include different types of expenses needed to execute that program/project. Please see our Do Not Fund List for the types of expenses we do not fund regardless of the program/project. Note we DO fund operating expenses either as a part of an organization’s core program (which matches a program/project within our mission) or as a separate, free-standing project.
